FROM THE EAST

Clark, Jerry_webBrethren:

Your Winter Garden Masonic Lodge has had a busy Summer. Now it’s time for the kids to go back to school and all the Brothers to go back to Lodge.  It is great to see the Brothers coming back to lodge.

Last meeting was the celebration of 50 years for RW:. Jack Quesinberry.  We had over 70 people in Lodge to observe the presentations and hear some of the stories of the Right Worshipful’s colorful past.  It was indeed one of the highlights of my year.  For those of you who missed this event, you missed a good one!!!

September will be busy also.  We will be passing to the degree of Fellow Craft, 6 new Brothers.  Please come out to our first meeting in September and welcome the new Brothers as they are passed to Fellow Crafts.

On Saturday September 27th at Noon will be this year’s Past Masters and Widow Luncheon here at your Lodge.  Invitations will be sent out very soon, but make plans now to attend.  All Brothers and their wives are invited to attend, and as always, all Past Masters and Widows meal are on us.  I hope to see a good turnout for this event.

Also, September is the month our Secretary will be sending out NPD notices.  Please, my Brothers, if you haven’t paid this years dues, please put it in the mail today.  We need your dues to keep the lights on and a place for you and all of your Brothers to meet and fellowship.

I invite each and every one of you to come out and see what goes on at our meetings.  If you need transportation, please contact any of the officers of your lodge, and we will make it happen.

It is good to see Brother Riggy Nunez back in Lodge after his car accident, and Brother Dan Kuhl recovering well from his past back surgery. Hurry and get well, we miss you !!!

 Fraternally yours,

Brother Jerry Clark

Worshipful Master

FROM THE WEST

Lopez, Frank_web

I wanted to thank everyone who was able to attend our last stated communication in which we presented RW Jack Quesinberry with his 50 year membership award. We had a great turnout and it was standing room only in the dinning hall.  Thank you also to the past masters that were able to attend and talk about RW Jack during the meeting.  I’m sure he appreciated hearing all the stories and words of appreciation of his many years of service to the lodge and district.

We will be conferring a FC Degree during our 1st stated meeting in September, where we will be passing 6 brothers to the degree of Fellow Craft.  Brother Mark Kirkley and the degree team have been busy preparing for this degree.  I hope you will be able to attend and support  the new brothers as they continue their masonic journey.  Our lecturer for the evening will be RH Donald Goolsby.  If you are interested in participating in any of our upcoming degrees, please let me know. It is a great way to get involved in the lodge.  We should have an upcoming MM Degree in October or November.

At our 2nd stated meeting in September, we will be presenting donations to the PTA of four local elementary schools as part of our Adopt a School Charity Program.   The schools that will be present are Tildenville Elementary, Dillard Elementary, West Orange Montessori Charter, and Oakland Charter Elementary.   The donations are coming from the profits earned during our 4th of July Kids Bike Parade and Breakfast.  This will be done during the meal prior to the meeting at 7:30 pm.  I hope you can attend and support the charity function.

Thanks again for your continued participation.  If we haven’t seen you in lodge recently, we would love to see you again.

FROM THE SOUTH

Mark Kirkley, J.W.

Greetings from the South.   As our summer is coming to a close, it is encouraging to see so many members showing back up  from vacation.  Certainly it was a hot summer and we appreciate all the families and brothers that attended our meals and lodge meetings.   The lodge continues to grow and we have a huge crop of EA’s moving on to FC.  We have at least six brothers passing to FC on September 4th meeting.   So in the spirit of back-to-school, let’s talk about the basic meaning of the FC degree.

The FC degree covers the years of manhood and responsibility in the cycle of human life.  In it man finds opportunities to obtain useful knowledge of the building of his character and the betterment of the society in which he lives.  At the outset the discerning mind sees the Divine Plan and finds its own function and place in it.  The new Brother also discovers two great themes developed in the degree; education and achievement.

The masonic ritual is to be the vehicle by which man might become well education in the liberal arts and sciences.  In the ritual of the degree, a FC is urged to advance his education in these fields.  The opportunities of today have placed all the facts of this part of the degree at the command of the average schoolboy.  To unlock the door of symbolic interpretation of these liberal arts and sciences, man must use the key of initiation.

For our September meal we are going with “mommas Sunday dinner.”  That will be fried chicken, mac and cheese, green beans, and biscuits.  Come on out, break bread and if you’ re lucky, you will get your wish on a wish bone. Worst case, good fixin’s and mighty fine company.

Fraternally,

Bro.  Mark kirkley,

Junior Warden

FROM THE CHAPLAIN

Joseph Gracey, Chaplain

Hello my Brothers. How good it is to see  Winter Garden Lodge # 165 so active. In a time when many lodges are experiencing declining membership, low attendance and financial problems, WG is growing and looking at a bright future. We are fortunate to have so many applicants, new EA’s, FC’s and MM’s. What an exciting time for us here at WG # 165.

It was good to see Brother Riggy Nunez in Lodge for FC practice last Wednesday. Welcome back Riggy. Best wishes for him for continued healing.

Also good to hear that Brother Dan Kuhl’s back surgery went well an he is on the road to recovery. Best wishes for him also on the road to recovery.

Pray for each other my brothers. Our Heavenly Father Will answer our prayers if we truly have faith and love Him.

Finally, I share the following with you from something I read. It is worth remembering.

” When I was young I was sure of everything; in a few years, having been mistaken a thousand times, I was not half so sure of most things as I was before; at present, I am hardly sure of anything, but what our Heavenly Father has revealed to me. “

Fraternally, Brother Joe Gracey, Chaplain.
