Hello Brothers from the Secretary,

I would like to wish all those Brothers born in October a very happy Birthday.

Brothers we will soon be sending out our 2015 Dues and donation notices. Grand Lodge has raised the per capita this year. If you struggle with the cost of the dues, please contact the Worshipful Master or myself. We will also be receiving the petition for Thomas Arthur Brassil Jr for the three degrees.

Brethren:

October is here and the year is almost at end, but your Masonic Lodge is  still very busy.  This month we will be receiving the Fellow Craft Catechisms  from 4 our new Brothers; Bro. Arosenius, Bro. Nery, Bro. Zarth and Bro. Boyer. What that means is that on November 15th we will be conferring the  Master Mason Degree Outdoors, as Winter Garden Masonic Lodge is known for.   Time and place will be announced in the November Trestle-board.

We have at least two new candidates submitting petitions this month, which shows that our Lodge is steadily growing.  Men are always searching for  more light, even if they don’t realize it.  Masonry is one of those avenues.

A reminder to our Scottish Rite Brothers, that the Fall Reunion of the Orlando Scottish Rite is October 11th and 12th.  Come out and spend a couple of hours and enjoy seeing the degrees and fellowship with Brothers from all over Central Florida.  Winter Garden Lodge always has a great showing at these events.

I hope to see all the brothers at our two stated meetings this month.

Fraternally yours,

Brother Jerry Clark, Worshipful Master

FROM THE WEST

I wanted to thank everyone who was able to attend all of the events that we had in September.  Congratulations to our 4 new Fellow Crafts that were passed at our first stated meeting on September 4th.  We conferred a good degree and were complemented on our performance by our District Instructor who was in attendance and delivered the lecture during the second section.  Lets keep up the good work and continue to improve in our ritual work.

At our 2nd stated meeting in September, we presented donations to the PTA of four local elementary schools as part of our Adopt a School Charity Program.   The schools that were selected were Tildenville Elementary, Dillard Elementary, West Orange Montessori Charter, and Oakland Charter Elementary.   We had a good attendance at the event and the donations were greatly appreciated.  We hope to have a write up in the west orange times soon about the event.  It was the start of our expansion of our Adopt a School/ Adopt a Teacher Program and we look forward to the new opportunities to serve and support these four local elementary schools.

Our lodge continues to expand its footprint within West Orange County.  Thanks again for your continued participation in this endeavor.  If we haven’t seen you in lodge recently, we would love to see you again.  There are new and exciting things happening in our lodge.  Come by and visit with us.

FROM THE SOUTH

bro. Mark Kirkley, J.W.
bro. Mark Kirkley, J.W.

Greetings from the South.   October is here.  Halloween costumes, pumpkins and my favorite, skulls.  From time to time as we look around, we see skulls connected to Freemasonry icons.  It brings to mind the Latin phrase Memento Mori “remember that you must die.”  Albert Mackey said “a symbol of mortality and death.  As the means for inciting the mind to the contemplation of the most solemn of subjects, the skull and the crossbones are used in the Chamber of Reflection….”   In the blue lodge, we may think the third degree represents death but instead it is about rebirth.  We should live moral lives and be reborn spiritually and intellectually.  So when you see those skulls this season, reflect upon your life and remember, Memento Mori.

We are between degree practices and some of the brothers are taking the Master Mason Exam.  We hope to start up the Lodge Officers Course soon as well and get most of that completed before our year ends.  Thanks to everyone that came out (and helped) for our lodge meal and Past Masters and Widows luncheon.   It is refreshing to see the family attending these events.  Speaking of food, this month we are going back to an old favorite….spaghetti and salad.

Fraternally,

Bro.  Mark kirkley, Junior Warden

Hello my Brothers. Well here we are in the 10th month. The Supreme Architect of the Universe has provided us with a beautiful month, this time of the year, every year. The days are still warm and the nights are cooler as the earth prepares for winter. The sun shines and the rain falls and the crops grow to their fullness. How wonderful is our Creator.

Some of our brothers are struggling as we read this. Worshipful Arthur ” Buddy ” Young is at Ocoee Health and Rehabilitation Center with heart and kidney problems. Other brothers and family members have health, employment and financial difficulties. Please keep them in your prayers. Always remember that you are a MASON and are commanded to aid and assist your brothers. So, do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can as long as ever you can. Care for and about your brothers. It’s what we are about.  Thanks, praise and honor to our Heavenly Father.

Fraternally, Brother Joe Gracey, Chaplain.
