The second in a long series of official visits for our newly appointed District Deputy Grand Master of the Proud 17th Masonic District of Florida, F&AM, R.W:. William B. Erd, affectionately referred to as “Willie B from Tennessee” was a fun filled night of fellowship, awards, presentations and an outstanding delivery of the Grand Master’s message to the subordinate lodges with reports from a multitude of District committeemen.
It was a who’s who of masonic iconography and much mirth and hilarity ensued throughout the meeting all the while maintaining the solemnity and dignity of the fraternity. The District Deputy was accompanied by a goliath entourage, including his own appointed musician who belted out “Old Rocky Top” upon the DDGM’s introduction.
Over 40 Master Mason’s and their families attended a fine dinner provided by our very own Junior Warden Scotty Beckett and his top notch kitchen staff, with the majority of the brothers staying for the official visit. There were enough members of Mokanna 329, our sister lodge to the East to win the coveted Traveling Gavel trophy. Mokanna’s Master Eric Romano challenged other lodges in the district to travel to Mokanna and take the trophy home.
At the end of the evening, a large contingent of the brethren made a mass exodus across the street to Pilar’s Martini bar, owned by WB Charlie Roper and his sister to cap the night with libations and continued fellowship.
